Clive Tully's speciality is reviewing clothing and equipment for walking, lightweight camping and adventure travel, and he has made a number of appearances as "outdoors equipment expert" on various television programmes.
Over the years, Clive has demonstrated a
remarkable
ability to spot the trends for the near future. In the early eighties
he was at the forefront of reporting on the development of new lightweight
clothing which replaced traditional tweed breeches and woollen shirts.
Similarly, when hand-portable GPS receivers first came on the market in the
early nineties, he was the only outdoors journalist to report positively on
their benefits - quite literally a voice in the wilderness! Now of course their
use is widely accepted.
He was the permanent judge throughout the lifetime of the Country Walking / Trail magazines' annual Product of the Year Awards - highly prized within the outdoors industry.
Clive has also advised the internationally renowned design consultancy Seymour Powell on aspects of outdoors equipment.
